Malei Shira Kayam: Filling Ourselves with Song Like the Sea

Join Batya for a song circle in preparation for Shabbat Shira. Shabbat Shira is a time when we honor the power and joy of collective song. Upon crossing the Red Sea into freedom, the Israelites sang what is now known as our people's quintessential song. We will prepare for this Shabbat of song by cultivating a sense of presence and wonder as we sing, and connecting to our collective voice. We will be singing for most of this session.
Batya Levine (they/them) uses song as a tool for cultivating healing and resilience in their work as a communal song leader, shaliach tzibur (Jewish prayer leader) and cultural organizer. Batya is a co-founder and Director of Programs at Let My People Sing!, and they compose original music made of Ashkenazi yearning, queer heart-medicine, and emunah (faith).
